So, I hear RS is great. I learned they have a new online learning added to the training too.

I hoped they had a discount for veteran military members. When I was stationed in EU in the late 90's we didn't have this to learn the language where we were. I would like to learn some. But they dont have a discount for me.

Now, military people in the army and marines and I think air force can learn free , but I didn't see navy listed.
Not sure if selected people can learn, based on job, or if its open to all active and reservists.

Based on the below information i'll be looking for an authorized dealer who sells for less at a low deal. I saw a $300 savings deal today, so if you wait long enough you might find one. Just make sure its not oem or a resale, that's not legal RS is fighting piracy and ppl violating the user agreement.

Information I couldn't find out in the store, on their web page and online searching
I got by calling and will share with you, to answer your questions too!

1. RS owns the software you buy. You're just a licensed user. It's not like you bought a music cd and want to get rid of it and sell it on ebay to recover some money from the product. You don't own the software even though you're using the physical product by CD-ROM. This means:
A. Don't buy any RS language online if they are not an authorized dealer. Call RS to confirm that store online is selling legal copies esp. If you find a great deal.
B. Don't sell the RS product your using or obtained, because it violates the user agreement and is illegal unless you're an authorized seller.

2. Upgrades:
A. If you have an RS product version 2 or less, you can upgrade to a higher level at a lower cost.
B. Exceptions:
1. you can not upgrade from home edition to personal edition because the personal edition offers online (additional) training.
2. If you have personal version 3 (v3) you can upgrade to new Totale version 4, because they both offer the online access.

3. What is the difference between the home edition and personal edition. I've seen the home edition levels 1-5 packages are less cost than the personal edition.
A. There is no content difference in the cd material.
B. Home edition doesn't offer the additional online training that the personal edition does.

4. Want to get the most bang for your buck? Who doesn't? I wondered if the difference between home edition and business edition was additional business words and writing. Nope. So what's the difference?
A. The difference is in the number of users.
B. Personal edition offers 10 users max. Business edition offers more.

5. I saw some libraries offered Rosetta Stone online, free. Is that true? Well I was excited when I saw a public library was offering a variety of them online free. Until I found out online that RS discontinued allowing libraries to do.that in 2006 or 2007. Bummer.

6. What's the difference between Totale v4 and personal edition 3.
A. Totale is the newest version of personal edition.

B. This is why you can upgrade in this product type. I do not know the cost difference. Call RS for that.

C. The online access difference is: the new Totale version offers live interaction, live chat with native speaker, games, and mobile access through iPad and iPhone ....but not Droid; which bums me out...and millions of Droid users. Hopefully they'll make one. I suggest if you have Droid and want Droid access, I'd email, tweet to them and comment on FB. Let me know when they plan to have Droid access and i'll update this blog post.
Until they add more (platforms) for access, It's not available on other tablet computers like iPads, from what the RS reps said to me. Maybe you could plead for that too.

D. I do not know if the personal version offers a limited or unlimited access to online learning.

E. I do know Totale version offers 3 month trial access to online stuff, after that its $10.00 a month. I guess they expect you'll learn the language in 3 months?

7. The cost.
A. I haven't used these yet, so I don't know if the price is worth it. Looking for a good deal first.
B. The cost for lower, single levels ranges from to.
C. The Totale level 1-5 product is currently at $479.00 and can cost around $760.00 Retail, without tax.

8. Currently authorized stores online I know of for selling RS language training are:

2. Christianbook.com
I'll add more as I find them and verify them.

9. Discounts: I only know of these.
A. Active Military, through their command education center.

B. Christianbook.com has a promotion for home edition (the one without online access and not upgrade) for a $300 savings on many languages and level packages now. Probably in time for home/school season.

C. Might get free shipping. Check into that. sometimes the price it's offered at rosetta stone with free shipping is still more expensive than it would cost purchasing through an authorized dealer .

D. Well this is not really a discount it is something useful to know :
1. Rosetta: sometimes has a promotion where you can make 5 payments for the product instead of paying the whole cost up front . I have a feeling they.always have a payment plan option, but not sure if its only for those with credit cards, not debit bank cards even though you can use that card as credit in most stores. it does sound like if you order by phone you can save 25 dollars off your order directly through rosetta stone. so that plus free shipping if they offer it at the time you order may end up saving you money if you cannot find a better deal .
2. Other stores: I don't know if they do a pmt plan. If any I mention or vet do, I'll post it here. With credit card and atm debit visa details.

I hope this review and information has been helpful to you as it has been to me . Who knows, Maybe since I did this review and posted it all over the web at specific places, RS might give me a great deal on multiple languages over the next 5-10 years, . I want to learn a lot of them....why not? Great for traveling and speaking to ppl on vacation!

Craigslist Is Safe Again !

The Craigslist Adult Section has been removed.  While claiming censorship and placing a "censored" logo on that section of the site, it's done in the USA according to TechCrunch 


People can feel safe again using the site and it's services. I remember a time whenever I searched for jobs in my profession and they ended up (after much research) being connected with the adult industry and it turned me off from using their services for job searching. I felt every position posted on there were all con's and dangerous for women.  


Now that this sleazy section of the site is gone, I will feel safe to use the site for job searching, selling, buying and everything else that the site was good for.

Blapshemy of the Holy Spirit

Did you know it is impossible to blaspheme the Holy Spirit today? It's true, and I'm going to explain to you why that is.

First, look at the text where Jesus was speaking about blasphemy. To get the context of the passage you need to know what He was talking about before He mentioned the unforgiveable sin.

Mark Chapter 3
1Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. 3Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Stand up in front of everyone."

4Then Jesus asked them, "Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they remained silent.

5He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.


7Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd followed from Galilee. 8When they heard all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. 9Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him.... 11Whenever the evil spirits (who inhabited the bodies of some of the people) saw Jesus, they fell down before Him and cried out, "You are the Son of God." 12But he gave them strict orders not to tell who he was.

13Jesus went up on a mountainside and.... 14He appointed twelve—designating them apostles.... 20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."

23 So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. 28I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

30 He said this because they were saying, "He [Jesus] has an evil spirit."


These leaders had been following and closely watching Jesus since He began his ministry. They knew of Him, what the people said about Him, and they themselves have seen and heard in His presence as well. So, here, Jesus was teaching those who listened and the religious leaders that if they had the full knowledge of Jesus Christ...meaning, they truely understood who Jesus really was, that all Jesus said about Himself, and that God revealed about Jesus, His eternality, that He is God, that He is the Savior the promised Messiah, that He is the Judge, as well as the Creator of all, including those whom He spoke to, that He is the author of the Scriptures, and the one who taught about God because He is God, etc, and that they fully knew what it meant to reject Him, choosing in stead the horrors of Hell, if they fully comprehended all this information... and what it meant to obey His commands, through the Gospel, and yet after all this information, (if the had the full knowledge, and understanding) that they would, with full knowledge, decide to believe that Jesus was a Demon then they are guilty of the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the one who brings the understanding of the truth to humans, and for them to, with a full knowledge...reject the truth that they know, they damn themselves to Hell with no chance of forgiveness.

Now, it's impossible to have a fully complete knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ, and to reject Him by calling Him Satan. There is no way anyone (because they'd be in their right mind) could, with the full truth, blaspheme the Holy Spirit as to commit the one sin that will never be forgiven. It's impossible. Meditate on that for a while. And remember to share that with people who think they may have committed that sin. You can also share that with the atheists and Christ haters who have taken the "BlasphemyChallenge" in recent years. God is laughing at them, because they do not have the "full knowledge" of the truth. If they did, as I said, they would NEVER commit the sin, because they wouldnt be able to. They'd embrace Christ and be in such awe over Him and what they knew...they'd repent and trust in Christ on the spot, immediately.

What is the unforgivable sin? >> Rejecting Christ. If you die without Jesus, you die unforgiven.

Whatever decision you make today, is a decision. Choosing not to repent and turn to Jesus, is a decision. Deciding to delay it, for whatever reason, is still a decision. However if you die tonight... it is too late. This is why God says Today is the day of salvation"... because tomorrow isnt guaranteed. 160k people die every day. Get this eternal matter settled today. Today might be your last day, so get right with God, right now.

“Law-Lite”: Salvation From Unhappiness By Doing Your Best. There is no condemnation in Osteen’s message for failing to fulfill God’s righteous law. On the other hand, there is no justification, either. Instead his message is of upbeat moralism that is somewhere in the middle: Do your best, follow the instructions I give you, and God will make your life successful. “Don’t sit back passively,” he warns, but with a gentle pleading suggests that the only reason we need to follow his advice is because it’s useful for getting what we want. God is a buddy or partner who exists primarily to make sure we are happy. “You do your part, and God will do his part.” “Sure we have our faults,” he says, but “the good news is, God loves us anyway.” Instead of accepting God’s just verdict on our own lawlessness and fleeing to Christ for justification, Osteen counsels readers simply to reject guilt and condemnation. Yet it is hard to do that successfully when Osteen says God’s favor and blessing on my life depend entirely on how well I can put his commands to work. “If you will simply obey his commands, He will change things in your favor.” That’s all: “…simply obey his commands.”

According to Osteen, everything depends on “us”, and he claims it’s easy. One wonders if he has ever had a crisis of doubt or moral failure that stripped him naked in God’s presence. I doubt he has seen God’s Law in truth, and his actual crimes against God from violating that Law. Osteen seems to think that we are basically good people and God has a very easy way for us to save ourselves-not from his judgment, but from our lack of success in life-with his help. “God is keeping a record of every good deed you’ve ever done,” he says-as if this is good news. “In your time of need, because of your generosity, God will move heaven and earth to make sure you are taken care of.”

It may be “Law Lite,” but make no mistake about it: behind a smile that eschews any talk of God’s wrath, there is a determination to assimilate the gospel to law, an announcement of victory to a call to be victorious, indicatives to imperatives, good news to good advice. The bad news may not be as bad as it used to be, but the good news is just a softer version of the bad news: Do more. But this time, it’s easy. And if you fail, don’t worry. God just wants you to do your best. He’ll take care of the rest.

So who needs Christ? At least, who needs Christ as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (Jn 1:29)? The sting of the law may be taken out of Osteen’s message, but that only means that the gospel has become a less demanding, more encouraging law whose exhortations are only meant to make us happy, not to measure us against God’s holiness.

What Osteen teaches is NOT biblical. The truth is, God’s angry wrath abides upon those who live in sin, and for self. They commit crimes against God and break His law in their thoughts, by their words, and their actions, and they think very lightly of it. Yet, the day will come when God will hold them accountable…because their crimes are against GOD. Therefore, if they refuse the free gift of God in Jesus Christ, if they don’t Repent of their sins, forsake living rebelliously against God and the teachings of Scripture, and trust that Jesus is who He said He is, and whom the Scriptures declare He is as well as that Jesus paid the full fine for their sin penalty…if the don’t do this, they will die in their sins, and be judged by God, and sent to Hell to be punished eternally, and there they will be in torment, have no hope of escape or release.

We are bad people, who can be saved by a good God. The True and Living God, who has proved that he cares for His creation. He shows His loving-kindness toward us that while we were His enemies, He paid a huge price in order to show His grace and mercy toward us. Battlestar Galactica and the UN ?

I turned on the tv this morning and heard a news cast interviewing the guy who writes or created the series Battlestar Galactica. Apparently he was brought to the UN and they made a resolution or law because of this fantasy science fiction show, and the creator/writer of the show was in awe over the meeting and all that has come of it.

Oh give me a break.

The UN was saying their series deals with a lot of today's society kinds of things and specifically thinks the message in the scifi series calls people of every race to stop violence against each other and see us not as Arabs and Israeli's or Blacks and Whites, but as one group of people. Humans.

Christians have been teaching and saying that ever since Jesus Christ. The world is now going to make a resolution under the UN to unite people together becuase we are humans? I thought it was time that the world was told or called to remember that Christianity has taught this from day one. Scripture tells us that when we come to Christ we are no longer Jews or Gentiles, we are one under Christ.
